My name is James Isaac Jones, but I go by Isaac. I’m a photographer from Nashville, currently based in Paris while completing my MFA in Photography & Image-Making.
I’ve been a photographer since 2015, with a focus on artistic portraiture and work that feels creative and personal.
For me, photography is about connection and creative exploration. The best work comes from collaboration, whether I’m working with individuals, couples, musicians, or other creatives.
My work has been featured in publications such as Vogue and The New Athenian, and I’ve collaborated with artists and brands including Bottega Vinaia, Play Like a Girl, Diplo, and Bailey Zimmerman. One of my long-term goals is to have my work featured on the cover of a Grammy-winning album. But more than credits or accolades, I care most about creating a space where people feel safe and supported.
That means a few things are always true when we work together. First, comfort matters just as much as the image; if something doesn’t feel right, whether it’s a pose, a location, or the overall vibe, we adjust. Second, collaboration is essential. Photography is a shared process, not something that’s done to you. I want the work to feel like it belongs to both of us.
That’s what matters most to me.
